Herzing College

At 1700 Portage, the goal wasn’t to make a statement for the sake of novelty—it was to listen carefully to what the building was already saying. The exterior re-cladding was approached as a stewardship exercise: respect the original architectural language, reinforce its character, and quietly extend the building’s useful life for decades to come. Material choices and detailing were selected to feel authentic to the era while delivering modern durability and performance. At the same time, the project introduced clearer, more confident signage and wayfinding for Herzing College, helping the building better serve its primary tenant and visitors. The result is a façade that feels familiar, intentional, and renewed—heritage preserved, lifespan extended, and function sharpened without losing its soul.
