Three clinics. One partner.
How a multi-clinic Allied Health operator found a construction partner worth keeping.
CLIENT: Garrett Morrison
SECTOR: Allied Health
PROJECTS: 3 clinic build-outs
RELATIONSHIP: Ongoing, repeat client
BACKGROUND
Garrett Morrison has been in Allied Health for over 25 years, practicing clinically while acquiring and renovating clinics along the way, and in time, stepping back from his role as a practitioner. He knows this business inside out, which means he also knows exactly what can go wrong when you hire the wrong contractor. Budgets that quietly expand. Schedules that slip without warning. Project managers who go quiet the moment the punch list arrives.
When he came to LCM Design-Builders, he was looking for something most contractors don't offer: a genuine working relationship, not just a transaction.
THE CHALLENGE
Healthcare build-outs carry a cost most clients never think about until it's too late: every day an operational clinic is closed for renovation is a day of revenue lost. For Garrett, timelines aren't a preference, they're a financial constraint. He needed a team that could set a realistic schedule, communicate through every phase of construction, and hold the line when things got complicated.
He'd experienced both sides: vacant-space builds with room to breathe, and active-clinic renovations where the clock was running from day one. The contractor he chose had to handle both with the same standard of care.
"In LCM fashion, we were contacted, we discussed it, we laid out options, it was priced, and we figured it out. Guys would stay extra or work later to ensure we stayed on track."

WHAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE
Timeline reliability
Crews stayed late when needed. Schedules held.
Cost transparency
Clear estimates upfront, no fees appearing mid-project.
Proactive communication
Weekly site reports with photos. Never had to ask for updates.
Post-handover support
One call to the office. Problem solved, every time.
One thing Garrett hadn't expected was how much LCM's pre-construction process would change his approach to budgeting. Rather than arriving with a design and a price, the team presented options: multiple ways to achieve the same look or function at different cost points. The result was significant savings without sacrificing the space.
"We were able to uncover quite significant cost savings and keep the space exactly how we wanted it, or even better, based on the expertise that LCM was providing us."
— Garrett Morrison
Communication was the other constant. Across all three projects, Garrett never had to chase an update. In-person meetings kept the design intent clear and reduced the risk of costly miscommunication. On the most recent project, end-of-week site reports with photos arrived without him having to ask.
"There was never a point where I wondered what was happening today. I knew exactly where things were."

THE OUTCOME
Three completed clinics. Budgets held. Schedules kept. And a working relationship that has continued across every project since.
For Garrett, what sealed it wasn't any single build, it was what happened after each one. Minor touch-ups, small fixes, calls returned. Most contractors go quiet once the crew leaves the site. LCM didn't.
"There's a high level of trust there that when the work is done, you still have that ongoing support from the team. And I think that's probably one of the big reasons why we continue to choose LCM for these big projects."
— Garrett Morrison
When asked what advice he'd give to another clinic owner looking for a contractor, Garrett's answer was straightforward:
"It comes down to the relationship: the trust in place, which incorporates the transparency, the communication, and the support. You're looking for a relationship, not a transaction."
